Lesson Plans for November 5-9, 2018

Monday: Vertical and Horizontal Lines (HOY-VUX); HOMEWORK- TBD

Tuesday: Identifying Linear VS Non-Linear when given graphs, tables, and equations; HOMEWORK- TBD

Wednesday: 8th grade PM field trip; Proportional VS Non-Proportional – Identifying direct variation from a table or verbal description and writing a direct variation equation from a table or verbal description.  Students will identify the unit rate as the slope of the line and the constant of variation as well, connect this to the vocabulary “y varies directly with the x”, and write direct variation equations.; HOMEWORK- TBD 

Thursday: Linear Proportional VS Linear Non-Proportional discrete functions (Trick-or-Treating example). Students will write the corresponding equations, make tables and draw graphs. NO HOMEWORK

Friday: Writing direct variation equations from graphs; HOMEWORK- TBD

Tuesday: Slope Dude video and the What is Slope? video; Discuss the videos; Fill in the “What is Slope?” and the “Slope and Similar Right triangles” in our journals.  HOMEWORK- Slope from a Graph half sheet

Wednesday:  Discuss and correct homework and then glue it on our journals; Complete journal notes on “Slope from a Table”; HOMEWORK- Slope from a Table WS

Thursday: Complete journal notes on “Slope from Two Points (The Slope Formula)”; HOMEWORK- Slope from Two Points WS

Friday: School Holiday.

Thank you in advance for being amazing for the substitute today!!! I know you will all be on your absolute best behavior.  While I am out today you will…

  1. Complete the Inequality QUIZ.
  2. Get a pair of scissors to cut the flaps on the foldable.
  3. Watch the video  “3 Ways to Find SLOPE” and complete the foldable for your notebook as you go.
  4. Glue the foldable into page 30 in your journal.
