Lesson Plans for September 18-22, 2017

Monday: Simplifying Algebraic Expressions- Combining like terms; HOMEWORK– Watch One-Step Equations video lesson.

Tuesday: Solving one-step equations; We will discuss prior knowledge of solving one and two-step equations, including vocabulary including inverse operations, additive inverses, and multiplicative inverses. HOMEWORK- Worksheet

Wednesday: Quiz over One-step equations;  Today’s objective is for students to model and solve two-step equations with algebra tiles.  Entry activity- watch the video on how to use algebra tiles.  HOMEWORK-Watch video on Using Algebra tiles to Solve Equations and place the notes sheet in your journal.  This assignment is due TOMORROW. This is homework if not finished in class.  See me in the morning at 7:30am if you need help.

Thursday: Today’s objective is for students solve two-step equations algebraically without tiles. Students will work task cards in groups to practice solving two-step equations.  Task cards will include the use of multiplicative inverses as opposed to division in order to “undo” multiplication by a fraction.

Friday:   Students, you will practice skills from Wednesday and Thursday by completing Punchline worksheet pg. 44- Solving Two-Step Equations.
