Lesson Plans for September 17-21, 2018

TEKS for the Week: 8.8A, 8.8B, 8.8C

Monday: Today’s objective is to review simplifying algebraic expressions- Combining like terms; HOMEWORKworksheet

Tuesday: We will discuss prior knowledge of solving one-step equations, vocabulary including inverse operations, additive inverses, and multiplicative inverses. HOMEWORK- Watch One-Step Equations video lesson and complete the notes sheet

Wednesday: Today’s objective is to review solving one-step equations; HOMEWORK- worksheet 

Thursday: Today’s objective is for students to model and solve one-step equations with algebra tiles.  Entry activity- watch the videos on Algebra Tiles (part 1) and Algebra Tiles (part 2).   NO HOMEWORK except studying for the QUIZ we will have tomorrow.

Friday:  📌 Quiz over one-step equations; Today’s objective is for students solve two-step equations with  and without tiles.  Entry activity- watch the videos on Algebra Tiles (part 1) and Algebra Tiles (part 2).  We will model and solve two-step equations together using algebra tiles. We will add a flippable notes sheet on solving equations to our journals. HOMEWORK Punchline worksheet pg. 44- Solving Two-Step Equations.

Lesson Plans for September 10-14, 2018

TEKS for the Week: 8.2D, 6th and 7th grade TEKS over Order of Operations and Number Properties

Monday: Converting from scientific notation into standard form; HOMEWORK-✏️ worksheet

Tuesday: Converting from standard form into scientific notation; HOMEWORK-  ✏️ worksheet

Wednesday: 📌Quiz over Scientific Notation;  HOMEWORK-✏️ Complete the Test REVIEW and STUDY for the TEST!

Thursday: Review all concepts from this unit using Quizizz and task cards; Go over the completed Review; HOMEWORK-   ✏️ WIN against Springhill tonight! And give yourself a 10-15 minutes to look over the review  for the test.  If you are too tired after the game, then come to tutoring tomorrow morning at 7:30 and study the review at that time.

Friday: 📌 TEST over Number Properties, Order of Operations and Scientific Notation; HOMEWORK- ✏️TBD

Lesson Plans for September 3-7, 2018

Monday: Labor Day Holiday

Tuesday:  Real Number Properties- Students will review and extend what they have learned in previous courses about the commutative, associative, identity, inverse, and zero properties (TEK 6.7D); Students will watch the video Properties Rap. HOMEWORK- Punchline worksheet

Wednesday:  Real Number Properties- Still will be introduced to the distributive property of multiplication over addition to applications in the real world (fast food examples). HOMEWORK- Complete front side of Punchline worksheet.

Thursday:     Students will be using the Distributive Property in an area model and with negative integers and multiple variables; NO HOMEWORK

Friday: HOMEWORK- Complete back side of Punchline worksheet and study for the Quiz we will have on Monday over Number Properties.

Lesson Plans for August 27-31, 2018

TEKS for the Week: 6.7D, 8.2A, 8.2B, 8.2D

Monday: The Real Number System- Students will place a copy of the Real Number Diagram in their ISN (Interactive Student Notebooks) and label the Natural Numbers, Whole Numbers, Integers, and Rational Numbers and Irrational Numbers. Students will complete a Rational and Irrational Number sort and place it in their journals. Students will then work in groups to classify real numbers in the following categories: natural, whole, integer, rational, irrational, and real.  HOMEWORK- Rational and Irrational Numbers Independent Practice worksheet.

Tuesday: The Real Number System- Students will review vocabulary and order sets of real numbers; HOMEWORK- Order real numbers on a number line in your journal. 

Wednesday: Students will complete application problems with square roots and review the Real Number System; HOMEWORK- Watch and complete the notes for the  following videos are linked below:

Thursday: Complete the Review;  HOMEWORK- STUDY your review!!!!

Hello!!! We are off to a great start this year!  I am so excited about what this school year will hold.
